My child, You walked out to live life on your own.
You thought you could do better if you were alone.
You gave up a life full of people that care
Because you thought our rules were unfair.
You took all we could give you and ran away fast
You thought that with what you had, you would last.
But you soon realized how wrong you would be,
When you ran out of money, and ran out of glee.
The last thing you wanted was to admit you were wrong.
You tried hard to prove this was where you belong.
You kept pushing, hoping things would improve.
But deep down inside you knew you’d have to move.
You feared the repercussions from the way that you fled
You prepared yourself mentally as you walked back with dread.
But as you came back home on that dreary night,
I saw you through the window and was full of delight.
I ran quickly to you and brought you back in,
To which you tried to explain the guilt and shame within.
I quickly told you there was no need to explain,
Because my child has come home to us once again.
