Hiding in the darkest shadows of the night
I feared god would find out that I was not right.
My guilt and shame is what soon drove me away,
Then, the enemy’s attacks held me at bay.
Relentless attacks had me hiding in fear,
Taking away everything that I held dear.
Trust of family and friends and my freedom, too;
I no longer knew what it was I should do.
Then came an answer that I knew to be true—
Jesus died for all so that we could be new.
He said, “Be still my son, and lend me your ear.
You are being attacked because I am near.
The devil doesn’t want you to find the way.
He will hit you with lies to get you to stay.
But our God will defend you with all His might.
If you trust in Him, He will show you the light.
