Proposed Plan – Church/ School

This is one part of a multi building development plan for a church in my town. These plans were not finalized but meant to be a proposal for the land usage.The following images consist of the new worship center.The goals of this building were to create a new church building with:

• • Approximately 1000 seat sanctuary
  • Youth spaces
  • Fellowship spaces
  • Classrooms.

Overview

• The 1st design incorporates all the church functions under one roof.
  • The first floor is 85,825 Sq ft.
  • Second floor classroom space is 4618 sq ft- not including balcony around sanctuary.
  • An outdoor fellowship area is just outside the worship center.
• A secondary design, still in progress, will create separate buildings for the main worship center, and the youth spaces.
• Childcare will remain with the worship center.
• Second floor will also likely be removed.
• Youth space could potentially double as the school facility for the upper grade levels.

Worship Center

• The current worship center design uses a two-level system with 1134 chairs on the main floor.
• The balcony is split to provide a sightline from the A/V booth set in the middle.
• The lack of center isle reduces distractions to speakers by people getting up during the service.
• I would need to provide side tiered seating with this design. Not currently pictured.
• A nursing room is just outside the sanctuary

Sanctuary space includes:

• A large, handicap-accessible stage
• 2 green rooms w/ bathrooms
• A band equipment room
• Backstage storage area.

Redesign:

• The updated design will have a stadium style seating as pictured below on back half of room.
• The coffee shop, store, and some offices and A/V room will be under this seating.

Youth Areas

The high school and middle school meeting area includes:

• Space for male and female breakout rooms for each grade.
• Space for activities and worship
• Offices for MS/HS leaders

A combined youth lounge allows an area to hang out or get snacks before or after meetings.

Children’s Ministry

• A large children’s ministry will provide an exciting place for kids to learn about Jesus.
• During the week, the space can also be used as a preschool center.
• A secure out door play area is provided.
• Lockers for child’s belonging are stored behind the front check-in desk.
• Space is available for infants to 5th grade.
• A nursery area will be provided for infants to sleep or play

Library/ Lounge

• A library will contain Christian oriented material as well as a study area and religious reference materials.
• A lounge can host bible studies, or provide a general place for people to hang out or study
• This section may be removed in a redesign as similar functionality exists in the community center as well

Offices/ Coffee Bar

• The church offices have a dedicated entrance that opens to the offices for various church needs.
• A large conference room is also available for church meetings.
• A coffee shop and small store can provide refreshments and a small revenue stream for the church.

Banquet Hall

• The fellowship hall is large enough to hold approximately 55 round tables of 8-10 chairs each.
• The fellowship hall can be converted into two separate rooms or cleared for basketball on youth nights.
• A full commercial kitchen is attached for events

This area may be relocated to act as the cafeteria for the proposed school.

Second Floor Classrooms

• The second floor has space for 8 classrooms of various sizes.
• A redesign will likely eliminate the upper floor.

Proposed Redesign

• Potential redesigns will separate the fellowship hall and the youth areas (still in progress)
• May combine Middle and Highschool classrooms in the youth center
• Childcare center and church offices will remain with the fellowship hall

Private Christian School

Objective: Design a school/ daycare to handle kids from 1-18

Handle approximately 500 total students.

Classroom sizes < 20

Details: Plan is in the idea stage. Classrooms are around 1045 sq ft (30’x 35’) – may vary depending on type of classroom and grade level. Plan is to put elementary school classrooms on one side, and middle/ high school classes on the other.

Daycare and preschool facilities will likely be a different building or in the church design. A cafeteria and gym area is on the back half. These can serve as event space. A library area is across the hall from these. A central courtyard may be used as the playground area, or outdoor classroom space.

Some aspects of the church building may be separated and used for the school as well.
