I first designed this house in 2006. The main attraction of this house is the large glass wall that greats you when you approach the house. Behind the wall is an area for a planter or indoor fish pond. This house includes a guest suite above the garage as well with a space for their own kitchenette, and a separate living room and bedroom.
Updated Design
In the redesign of this house, I kept much of the same layout as the original, though I did add a secondary option to the master bedroom side of the second floor.
Redesigned in Revit 2018 in 2020.
- 1st Floor: 3,083 Sq Ft
- 2nd Floor: 2,570 Sq Ft
- Total Living (Main House): 5653 Sq Ft
- Garage: 737 Sq Ft
- In-Law Suite: 662 Sq Ft
- Combined Total 7,052 Sq Ft
First Floor
- Entering into the foyer from the left entry, you will notice a recessed great room large enough for plenty of family activities such as pool or movies. Attached is a private office separated from the rest of the house by means of the great room.
- The first-floor bathroom adjacent to the foyer leads outside to the pool area and includes a shower for people coming in from the pool who need a quick rinse before going upstairs. The bath is adjacent to the living room and the stairs to the second-floor hall that overlooks the living room and large planter area in the front of the house. The living room includes a fireplace in a smaller area meant for reading or just cuddling up.
- The eating area on the 1st floor provides a large kitchen with its adjoining dining room, breakfast nook, and a large walk-in pantry/ wine cellar. Also on this side of the house, a spare room (in this case a small gym) and garage with access to the upstairs guest area can be found.
Second Floor
The second floor is home to the sleeping areas. On the left, you will find a large master suite, which includes his and hers walk-in closets, a large master bath with a personal sauna, and a separate sitting area or office. On the right, you will notice 3 bedrooms, each with its own private bath. The area above the garage is currently set up as a guest apartment, with a bedroom, kitchen/dining/ living area and its own bath. Different from the original design, I moved the laundry room upstairs next to the master bedroom.
To include a window over the front entry, I had to redo the room arrangement, as the original plan would have a wall and closet in the middle of the window.I created another option to add a spare room open to the rest of the house instead of the sitting room in the original design only open to the Master Bedroom.I do need to fill in the floor opening in front of the window of this option.
The fireplace in this house includes a small seating area in front. Also noticed in this image is a small closet under the stair case, and a view of the indoor planter.
This house is designed with a large kitchen working space with plenty of storage and functional design. The kitchen includes a double oven, stovetop, dishwasher, french door refrigerator, built-in microwave, and trash compactor. Near the breakfast nook, is a beverage station with a built-in coffee maker and dedicated mini-fridge.A large pantry and appliance cabinet also ensure you have space for all your food and kitchen accessories.Additional seating is provided by the peninsula bar separating the kitchen and dining room.
Original Design
For the most part, the designs between the Revit and AutoCAD models remain the same. The key differences are the more detailed pool, a balcony and outdoor kitchen area, and moving the laundry room location to the upper floor. In addition, I had trouble designing the rounded part of the glass wall on the Revit model that is seen in these images.
Designed in 2006 with AutoCAD 2004.
- 1st Floor: 3,739 Sq Ft.
- 2nd Floor: 3,436 Sq Ft.
- Total: 7,175 Sq Ft.
